Sections of the Paleomagnetism Laboratory in the “Anexo” Building and their facilities

JR6 jail.-   In this area preferably low signal samples are measured. The more outstanding facility of this area is a “jail” or “Helmotz” box of low fields.

Inside the Helmotz box there is:      A JR6 spinner magnetometer.

Other faciliteies are:      Automated thermal demagnetizer MM-TD-60

                                             Manual thermal demagnetizer Schonstedt TSD-1

                                             AF Molspin demagnetizer

Pulse magnetizar IM 10-30 ASC Scientific

Rock Magnetism.- This laboratory also belongs to the Paleoenvironmental Research University Group together with the Paleolimnology and the Palinology Laboratories (the last one in the Geological Institute). The facilities in this laboratory are mainly for evaluate the magnetic properties of rocks:

Bartington Susceptibilimeter MS2 with the MS2WFP attachment for high temperatures

Kappabridge Susceptibilimeter KLY2 for susceptibility anisotropy measurements

Spinner Molspin magnetometer

Molspin AF desmagnetizar

Pulse magnetizar IM 10-30 ASC Scientific
